My 2007 macbook has been acting up latlley and now it is getting frustrating. Recently the battery went dead in the computer so I ordered a new one. The new battery works fine, but the issue is that the Macbook will not boot with the fully charged battery, it will only boot with the magsafe plugged in. Again, the battery is brand new. I tried the battery in a different macbook and it works fine. I also tried a different magsafe cord, no difference. When I plug in the macbook it boots fine. The battery indicator says "no charge", but the system profiler and energy preferences both see a battery in the machine.Any ideas?

Mac is running Lion but it had the same issue in Snow Leopard

This is not my main machine, so I wam willing to try anything.

Perhaps compare the numbers on the physical battery with the numbers in System profiler to see if they match. It may still think it's the old battery. That's the best advice I can give right now.
