When I use my Samson G Track microphone there is a static/hissing sound in the background. I am running Windows 7 and have had the same problem with several computers. It didn't do this until just recently, and as far as I know it suffered no damage. Is there a software setting that can fix this problem, or is it hardware related? |

I would think you have the sensitivity turned WAY up. Try lowering it and see if that will help Do you mean the volume? I forgot to include the fact that it continues the hissing even when all of the levels on the mic are all the way down. Well I think there's a separate slider for sensitivity. See if you can find one. I think you mean the Microphone Boost slider... I went to where the microphone boost slider normally is, and there was nothing. Where would this sensitivity slider be, I've looked everywhere I can think of... OK, I guess there isn't such slider. I had thought there was. My only other idea is perhaps something else is interfering with it. If your radio close by? do you have a microwave near your computer? It's probably something to do with RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) I've tried it on multiple computers running Windows 7 and had the same problem with all of them. I don't think any we're in a location close to a microwave or radio... that's bizzare. Must be something with your mic. I'm not an audio expert but I do know enough to diagnose them. Maybe someone with more knowledge than I will come in and help Well, I believe I found the problem. I realized that if I right clicked on the volume slider on the levels tab I could choose to display dBs instead of %, and as soon as I set the level to 0.0 dB the static went away, it just means I have to turn up the volume built into the mic itself higher and talk louder... yay! Glad you figured it out! Thanks for helping! No problem!
