I have a friend that recently bought an Imac g5 (it only has a 2.2 GHz single core) and he acts like its the best computer ever. Me on the other hand I am glad to have Windows and would slowly switch over but still use Windows because I am fanboy. Personally I think its a waste when you can build you own computer with the same specs as a basic Mac Pro for a fraction of the price. Although apples design is nice for all there computers. I would rather buy a new desktop/laptop with at least a dual core for the same price instead of an old Imac G5 that was outdated 2 years ago.

I really only think that people are crazy to spend $300 on a single core.

People like macs because they just work. They're more secure, the features are extremely intuitive, and they usually don't crash as much. While you can get a PC with much better specs for less money, you're probably not getting the quality that you get from a mac. Apple's support is top-notch, unlike many PC manufacturers. Their machines are, in my opinion, much higher quality than most PCs (except ASUS and Toshiba). All macs are made of aluminum, and there are some special features (backlit keyboard and multitouch trackpad on notebooks, for example) that Apple does really well.

I've been a Windows user for years. Still am, probably always will be. Last Sunday, though, I bought my first mac (base model 13" MacBook Pro), and I've actually had a hard time trying to do some things because they were so simple and much more intuitive than in Windows (that's a good thing!). I've moved my Windows machine over to the other side of my desk and made the new mac my primary machine.

Mostly, it's just a personal preference. Most gamers would hate to get a mac, as not mant games are available mor mac. Many businesspeople like PCs because of Microsoft office and business applications. Graphic designers, video editors, and recording engineers mostly prefer macs because of the mide range of multimedia applications available. Many college students like macs because they tend to last longer than Windows machines, and many things are easier/more intuitive to do.

There's no perfect OS... macs still freeze, and Windows still crashes. I like my mac because of the user experience- everything just works the way it's supposed to.

because the instant a PC guy buys a mac he becomes a mac fanboy, 90% of the time that happens. he just don't want to admit that his multimillion dollar purchase is a waste of money. I've been there, I hated myself for sepending 1700€ on a laptop that has the same specs as one for 800€ -.-

When people think of Macintosh computers they think of glass display instead of the Windows display, Aluminum instead of rugged plastic, Apple -a very high end company of electronics. Not to mention the price. Everybody figures , you get what you pay for. Apple establishes itself as a very, quality company. Unlike some people when I think of progress, effort, office, classy. When I think of Macintosh computers, I think of them as "toys". Sure the editing software is nice but it is editing software. I much rather Sony software.
