Help me convert this into Mac OS X terms?

Internet Explorer Configuration for Wireless Users 1. Once you have configured you wireless network connection, you will need to setup Internet Explorer to automatically configure the Web Proxy settings so you can access the internet. To do this – start Internet Explorer and click on Tools -> Options.

Click on “Connections” tab and then “LAN settings”
Check the “Automatically detect settings” box. Make sure the other boxes and NOT checked.
Click OK on each windows until you are back to the normal Internet Explorer windows. Close and restart Internet Explorer. That complete configuration.

I got that list from my school to configure the network but the techy guys are way behind and still on XP and refuse to help me set up my MacBook Air! I've tried so many different things like setting the proxy (protocol?) to auto discover, in network preferences, I've tried setting it to Automatic Proxy Configuration and entering different URLs ect. but nothing seems to do it. Any idea on what I am doing wrong? It's got WPA/WPA2 Enterprise security if that changes anything? (I have the password and username.)

Assuming you're on OS X Lion,

Open System Preferences
Click Network under Internet and Wireless
Determine if you are using Wireless or Wired internet.
Click Ethernet or Wi-Fi in the left hand column.
(Whichever is in use should have an Amber or Green dot)
Click Advanced
Go to the Proxies section
Check Auto Proxy Discovery
Click OK
