To date 2D barcodes such as QR and Tag have been most effective on print. The challenge with using Tags in a digital environment is that scanning the Tag should lead to an experience that is unique to a mobile device- it wouldn't make sense to include a 2D code if it's more practical to click through using a desktop interface. Some ways 2D codes have been used in digital include unlocking new content if scanned, but I think there is room for innovation. Microsoft Tag has real time location and device ID recognition capabilities that can deliver a unique experience based on those two variables. If you couple that with the touch screen interface on many smartphones and mobile devices I think something really unique could be done. Thoughts? |

A quick solution would be to hyperlink the @MicrosoftTAG, but that defeats the power behind the scan. *If every webcam was able to detect & scan/read @MicrosoftTAGs, then the power of @MicrosoftTAG could be accessible to smartphones, desktops, laptops, tablets, etc.* Bill Gates wanted big things for Surface ... "Every computer has a surface, and every surface should have a computer." @MicrosoftTAG is being used in "Kinectimals"!
I think that @MicrosoftTAG could be used for many things like Medical Alert Tags, License Plates, Sports & Fitness ... more. |

http://lockergnome.net/questions/149194/bar-code-reader-for-pc my question kevin already answered it 2
I checked out that question, but I think that's something a little different. When a 2D code is scanned in magazines it usually leads to a video or a web page. If the code is on a web page or overlaid on an online video what should that experience be? Perhaps a promotion, couponing, or location of stores etc. if it's an advertisement. 2
maybe a touch screen app or an interactive video or ebook or similar |

Wired posted this awesome story yesterday: http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2011/08/animated-tattoo-makes-great-use-of-qr-code/ I love the thought of it. |

QR should be placed on every desktop web page. Why? So I can easily scan from my device and go to the corresponding mobile page without typing. QR codes are not just for ad campaigns or DM - they are mobile links and shortcuts. That's what we want as mobile consumers. (See my firm's site for example of this: www.pureoxygenmobile.com) |

QR Codes don't just store text and URL's. You can also scan a QR code and dynamically generate a menu that can help you get more information on a product, troubleshoot the product, call customer support, find an expert, or share with your friends in your social media network. 2d or qr Bar codes are absolutely excellent when used on off line social media; but don't make a lot of sense added to a page that's already open. As is here: -advertising site--removed- Beermatman |
