What is the best way to prolong battery life? esp. with HP laptops, and among all the laptop brands which of them probably has the longest battery life? any experience?? i mean, HOW DO YOU GUYS MAINTAIN YOUR BATTERY?? so it'd last years and still have at least a 1hour Up-time |

Everyone nailed it. Just turn down brightness (definitely. The screen is a verrrrrry battery intensive component), turn off wifi when you aren't using it (another big battery drainer is leaving wifi on when you aren't using the internet), and don't charge your battery every time you get a chance. I know sometimes that's unavoidable, but try to avoid it. Maybe carry around a backup battery (unless the battery is integrated) that is the same type and brand, and just swap the batteries when you are running low of juice. This is done by hibernating the computer, then swapping the batteries. |

All at one shot, use everything on the lowest settings and basic visual settings. To have the battery work for longer? Just don't use it so much. |

Actually the stuff you all said to me weren't new. so You're actually all correct,. and the reason why i checked one of the answer is because actually i was also thinking of buying another battery for traveling purpose. its hard to have no battery when you need it most. I used and treated my HP Compaq 511 like a desktop due to its Specs and performance,. so far there's not much of a problem except that my battery now is almost Dead. (it's battery up time is only 10mins. on Powersaver mode. (i configured powersaver mode for my laptop to use the least possible energy to make up for brown-outs) and 10 mins? 10 mins. is almost NOTHING! so i want to know HOW DO YOU GUYS MAINTAIN YOUR BATTERY - i think that's what i'm really asking for. and Thanks! I'm new here but this site's very very accommodating. :))
bdw, this HP Compaq 511 can do almost everything that a typical desktop can. (im actually using it ryt now) i've already stated its battery life (10mins) but should i be worried that its age is only around 1 year old? 'cause ive seen a 4-year old ACER (a much inferior brand than HP i suppose) with a battery life of around 1hour.
