Why do people like MineCraft? |

Beats me, honestly. I'd never pay for something with such poor graphics, especially not in this day and age. I know good graphics is likely not the point of the game, the gameplay is - even so I don't see tha terribly exciting, either. Having said that, I presume people like it because there's no limits, go wild and build you're own little world and interact with people around the world. Why not go outside :P 1
Because some people have very little or no social skills, although staying inside talking to a 60 year old pervert claiming to be 15 isn't going to help. Playing Minecraft ≠ Having no social life. It's a video game like any other. Some people may spend too much time sitting infront of their computers, but that doesn't go for everyone. Also, disliking a game based on its graphics is ridiculous. It shouldn't matter what it looks like, as long as it's fun to play. Realistic graphics make a good game to me. It's like using software, if it has an ugly UI I can't use it, it's not ridiculous at all, plenty of people feel the same way. Meh. I can't understand why. Personally, I enjoy the art style of games like Minecraft. It's simple, and it's not trying to be something it's not. I'm not saying all games with poor graphics are rubbish to me, I'm talking about Minecraft specifically. To me Minecraft looks like a game anyone can play, requires no skill to play, I like a challenge in a game. Either way it's just an opinion, if you like Minecraft then all the best to ya'! You don't need a lot of skill necessarily, but you need an abundance of creativity to fully enjoy the game.

More and more people are turning to indie games rather than over-priced industry games riddled with unecessary DRM. Minecraft in particular is virtually unlimited in scope, is designed for modders and supports texture packs out of the box. It supports home-based servers so the dependance on externally run servers is gone. And who wouldn't want their own privately run server made for you and a few chosen close friends? It's a game that you can make what you want of it. The things you can do in that game creatively are unlimited. The endless possibilities of redstone circuits alone should be enough to attract any self-respecting geek! And when I get tired of creating that giant digital clock who's curcuits span in-game miles, I'll see if I can create a medieval chapel for fun. ANYTHING is possible and this is why people love the game. I guess it's something fun for them to do. If it was free I would likely be a fan of it but I have better things to pay for. |

Forget graphics. Oddly enough, some of the best games I've ever played haven't had the best graphics. I can play Minecraft for days, but I get bored playing some more high quality games. |

I enjoy playing Minecraft because there is no "Right way" to play it, you just do whatever you please. The gameplay is fantastic, even though it's still in beta, and it's only going to get better as more updates role out. I can understand why some people may not like it. If you need a game to be completely linear and hold your hand, Minecraft isn't the right game for you. You'd be better off buying another generic FPS, and getting 5-7 hours of enjoyment, for your $60. |

I really like Minecraft but it's hard to explain why. When I'm watching let's play videos from X (davidr64yt), Yogscast or Kevin (zXNoRegretzzXz) I have much more fun playing Minecraft myself than I have just playing it. Just like @clone1018 said it is all about your imagination. With Minecraft there is no storyline and therefore you have to create your own which challenges the player to do it themselves. Edit, Check Reddit to see what people are making in Minecraft. Somethings are just mind blowing and others really impressive. |

Because it's Lego, you can build almost everything you'd like and play around with it. |

Minecraft*
Why can't people use their heads?
