Recently I sold my iPad 2 because I was getting tired of the OS and I wanted the Galaxy Tab 10.1. I haven't bought the new tablet yet, but I just discovered that the Samsung Series 5 Google Chromebook is about the same price. The main reason I have a tablet in the first place is because I don't have a laptop, only an iMac, and wanted a cheap alternative. Is the Samsung Series 5 Google Chromebook any good for normal web browsing? Watching flash video? That's pretty much all I would do with it, but it would be nice.

The Chromebook is made for normal web browsing like email, youtube, word processing light gaming (Angry Birds light)
Plus only apps from the app store can run on the Chromebook.

It is good for web browsing, though if you have no internet, it is mainly nothing. The only thing possibly is some cached things and videos on external storage.
I have the cr48 and it works good and can do a couple of things (2+ YT videos, multiple pages, etc). I expect that it will be better than the cr48

Browsing with the Chromebook is actually really good. I'm using it right now, and haven't had any problems, or flaws, but you haft to have an internet connection in order to use it. If you don't have an internet connection. You're pretty much screwed. However you should know what you're getting into before you get it.
Probably the most secure os I've ever used to be quite honest though.

A chromebook sounds like a great computer for what your looking for. One great feature for you will be Google's steady release schedule. On the developer channel, there is usually an update a week. The biggest reason that people don't want to get a chromebook, is because they are scared of living in the cloud. Because you have another computer, you will still have access to native desktop programs, if you were to need them.
I think the biggest decision you need to make, is whether you want a computer with a tablet design, or a tradition laptop design. Both operating systems and hardware configurations should be able to meet your needs.
