Ok, so. Yesterday I posted a question on lockergnome.net asking why people play MineCraft. I found the answers very interesting to read. So I thought I'd give the game a try. I will admit that the graphics are not the most appealing thing (at first) but it grows on you. I just love the freedom! Just mining a way and building stuff. I have 2 questions:

  • What am I suppose to do in the game?
  • How do I stop playing?!?

  • Thank you!

P.S. And how do I not lose my items after I die?

P.P.S. I guess thats 3 questions :D

I build a house all! Using the inventory editor... I'm now a little bored... Played the whole day though :D

If you're looking to join a server, I have one that you might like.

Maybe later. I still have almost no idea what I'm doing. I played for like 5 hours yesterday just trying to reroute water and lava...

Do you have the full version, because I'm assuming that you do.

There are many things that you can do.

You could:
Install mods which increases playability a lot.
Look for slimes (I still haven't found a darn one yet).
Build a fort and see if you can make it through the night on hard difficulty.
Explore unknown areas of your world (It's three times the size of Earth!)
Dig a hole and trap mobs/animals for either dinner, or other useful materials.
Build a tower that goes from Bedrock to the ceiling.
Make a bed and try to sleep in it at the Nether.
Go to the Nether!
Build a lighthouse (lava as light) by an ocean
Destroy a mob spawner (or making a trap so you get many resources)
Jump from the ceiling into a pool of water at bedrock
Create a hidden door with pistons
Make a bow and some arrows and point it straight in the air and shoot it
The possibilities are endless.

You can build a chest to save items when you die, pr you can use a mod that will keep your inventory.

For the slimes you should lookup a slime finder on google. Slimes can only spawn in certain chunks and even then its a question of whether or not they will.

I've seen that site many times, but this is the first time I've actually seen the "Get from level.dat" option. Wow, shows how much I observe websites. I'm going to see how it works right now.

What you're supposed to do is whatever you like. Most players go for mining materials and using them to build cool stuff. If you want to stop playing, just uninstall it. It's not possible to not lose items after you die unless you go back to where you died and pick them up. However I think you can get a mod somewhere that drops your items into a chest at the location of your death. but I can't remember where, sorry :(

What you really should do is start up a server for you and some friends to play on, all get on Skype and play non-stop for like a week straight.

You will have tons of fun but around the end of a full week of playing at least 12 hours a day you will be able to stop!

Start up a server and film it. Get Bukkit set up experiment with some plugins in the Fun section. WorldEdit and VoxelSniper might be useful. All jump on Skype and there you go. Maybe get ItemCraft setup with Mo' Creatures! :)

I'd go online with friends. For the past five or so months I stopped playing Minecraft because I got tired of single player but I recently setup a multiplayer server and I'm playing with friends. I started by hosting the server myself with McMyAdmin but now I'm using Tree Puncher, if you want to go the hosted route and use Tree Puncher you can get 10% off your order with the coupon code ZL STUDIOS.
