I have always loved PC's. But what makes Mac's better? I think Mac's run faster. But please give me your opinion.

Am I better off saving my money and buying a macbook for a thousand dollars, than buying a 300 dollar PC?

Totally depends. IMO, I would just spend a $1000 on a much batter PC. Sonys Vaio SB is a great choice.

I'd get a Mac of some sort just so that you can begin to experience OS X. And who knows, maybe you would come to love it. However, if you find the need to go back to Windows, you can either use Boot Camp, Parallels, or VM Ware to run Win7. The great thing about the Mac running windows is that you get the hardware reliability/speed of the Mac but the familiar environment of Windows.

You're literally comparing Apples to Windows here. If you like an enormous selection of high quality games, there's no other choice but to go with a PC, but if you are interested in actually creating content, there's no better way than with a Mac.

If you like OS X more than you like Windows 7, than I'd say the move would be worth it, but if you are fine with Windows, I wouldn't switch.

I switched from Windows to Mac, because I thought they were cooler, more stable, faster, more elegant, more secure, and more natural. I personally believe that all of those things are true. If you really want to try an experience that's like no other (in the computing world) go to an Apple Retail Store, and try a Mac out. If you like it, and you have questions, ask an employee. If you still would like to switch to OS X, definitely go for it.

Creating content on a Mac and Windows is basically the same anymore. The Macs might run the programs a little more efficiently but Windows gets the job done just as well. This is assuming you are using programs that are compatible with both platforms, not proprietary programs such as Final Cut or Windows Movie Maker(I chuckled as I typed this.)

"You're literally comparing Apples to Windows here." That is the first time I've actually LOLed sitting at my computer.

my opinion is that mac's aren't as good, they're far more limited, have less functionality support, less third party hardware/software support, far less upgradeable and everything on them costs more. and all this nonsense that they're better for video editing really bothers me. people are so biased and don't realize that adobe premiere pro works amazingly on pcs. unless you really need a computer thats gonna last you 10 years and you wont have money for another one until then, buy a mac. also mac's hardware is outdated. pc's had things like switchable graphics since a few years ago, and they're just being implemented. also pc's have had sandy bridge since early this year, and macs just got them last month, plus asus's are proven to be more reliable than your fancysauce apple computers. so buy an asus, and not a mac.

Although I agree with your statements, your disregard for grammar makes all of us Windows fans look illiterate.

Although i agree with your statement, i was merely being lazy. Quite honestly, if i wanted to be "literate", i could. Though sometimes, when you're bored & and haven't slept all day, you could care less.

I always go PC. Technically, you're paying for the OS and the brand name when you buy a Mac. I would rather spend my money on specs, and save my money and use a Linux distro. xD

The OS also happens to be a great OS. But I do agree it's the brand name you are buying. I do like the elegant look and feel of the Macintosh environment though

If you are thinking about a desktop, then i say stick with windows and build a computer/gaming computer.

Tho iMacs and macbook pros are awesome.

Wtih my eperence windows laptops are shitty unless they are the better ones like asus which cost about 1000 american

If your thinking about a laptop then get a macbookpro i7

What do you need it for? I feel 'better off' having bought my Mac but thats because of all my film and graphics work. It depends on your needs.

Totally depends on what you're gonna do. For the money I'd rather get an imac as a first Mac over a Macbook, but I've never owned one so that's just my opinion.

Depends what you want out of a computer. It is no secret that I prefer Linux and will suggest it to everyone. But the decision rests in what you want out of the computer. So, what do you do with a computer?

Mostly multimedia. Internet, multimedia,

(Aug 15 '11 at 22:23) worldtechguru worldtechguru's gravatar image

For that my suggestion would indeed be Linux. Kdenlive is an AWESOME multimedia production app.
