Can you now Play PC games in 3D (with 3D glasses) ?? anybody here @lcokergnome who has it? what games do you Play? I've been reading about video cards and I saw that NVIDIA has an Option for StereoScopic 3D. (that's the 3D glass kind of 3D right? the one in movies?) And so I've also read that Core i7 supports DUAL video Card. and I've been Eying on that LED7 3D TV being sold at Abenson to use as my PC Monitor when I finally build a core i7 with dual nVidia video card,. plus a 7.1 Channel Audio (IMAGINE HOW GREAT IZZ THAT?!) so does any geek in here have it already? @chris.pirillo do you have it? I know it's a lot of money but its worth a dream!! |

First off, DO NOT rely on 3D HDTVs. As far as I know, these TVs don't support the true 120Hz INPUT required to run actual 3D in games. You'd have to get a proper 3D gaming monitor to get it to work properly. Also, you don't need an i7 to run dual GPUs. The only thing that matters is that you have a motherboard that supports either CrossFireX(ATI/AMD) or SLI(Nvidia). As for what you need, this would be a good start since it can convert any content into 3D. wow! actually i was just formulating that its possible, w8 im gonna check out your link. so how much would it cost then? bdw, since it's a dream set i targeted the i7 :P but since you mentioned it, what specs do you recommend to get the optimal set? of CPU? with this kind of monitor? (i really liked your recommendation. :)) As it stands right now, an i5-2500k would be the best CPU for gaming. Jacking it up to an i7-2600k would be a pointless upgrade since Hyperthreading does close to nothing for gaming. Though my current dream build would be: i5-2500k, 8GB ram, GTX580(2) and ++otherstuff. Perfect build for 3D surround.
if it wasn't captured or animated to be 3d then its nto worth it and is a gimmick 3D itself IS a gimmick. It doesn't even have any benefits for anything else other than to let you experience 3D itself. hm? have you ever imagined playing your favorite PS3 Games in a graphics as bad as Minecraft? (don't get me wrong, minecraft is great but not its graphics) all the effort of video card companies are aimed to bring us a Realistic gaming experience, it's the same way I embrace 3D technology, it's another method of Delivering the artwork of the game authors. and yea I agree with @billy that if it's converted then it's gimmick, but if it helps to facilitate realism, then it's Useful and As great as we thought it is.. The thing about the converted 3D on that monitor is that it doesn't use your graphics card to produce 3D, so you won't suffer the same FPS drop as when you use the 3D by your graphics card.

First off not only Nvidia has 3D capabilities. AMD does too. I've been trying out 3D in a couple of games on both platforms and really? It's hardly noticable. What is noticable however is if you download a 3D movie, that's pretty cool. And yes you do look like a jackass with headset and 3D goggles on you >.<' Also make sure to buy proper glasses, not the low quality paper things. Buy real ones for optimum effect and longevity. One thing I've yet to try is combining the 3D technologies with AMD vision. Imagine running 3 screens with 3D enabled!! That'd be very cool. Nvidia does support multi screen 3D as well, except you need at least 2 cards in SLI to do that. indeed it does, however the performance is not optimal yet. It's always been AMD vision vs. Nvidia 3D. Now they both have it, but I'd still argue that AMD vision is the better, and Nvidia 3D is the better. Too bad they can't throw their balls together and codevelop -.- is this a war between video cards? cause man, I've been with NVIDIA and AMD (amd looks great, i mean my compaq 511 itself is soo powerful but according to experience AMD/ATI video cards die earlier than Nvidia. (that's not me, that's according to a geek friend) he said that when he was using AMD/ATI he had to make sure there's an electric fan with the CPU. while with NVIDIA, no need. hm? what do you say? i love amd graphics tho... (and I wish my amd vid card would last longer) What a bad idea you have there!!! you changed my Dream set!! hahahha i like it! triple 3d eh? you think the video cards to-date can handle those? hahah and i think this thing http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001472 is good enough for a screen what games have you tried?? I have here Crysis and it has options for stereoscopic 3d. is it as 3d as the movie?? bdw the monitor above comes with a 3D glasses that's really cool enough to wear. hahhaha and why improvise if you wanna look great? find some @ ebay... I'm usually with AMD because I know them better than both intel and nvidia. Which one is better? I couldn't care less. Yes I think one HD6990 or two gtx560ish can handle it. You can enable 3D for everything. The whole screen goes into 3D mode so everything shown on the screen gets stereoscopic. Some games have optimized for 3D. I know world of warcraft and starcraft 2 is. Crysis suppsedly is too but I don't know. But really what's the point in 3D if there's nothing flying in your face eh? I tried the 3D when in FP view a mage cast a pyroblast in my face, that looked pretty awesome. Also when playing Starbattle on Starcraft 2 it adds a lot of depth to the game.

Although it Doesnt use the proper 3D technology, test drive unlimited 2 supports the 2 tone glassed 3D with red and cyan glasses. I played with it for a bit til i realised how stupid i must look with my gaming headset and the 3D glasses on. It was just a gimmick. Didnt do anything for gameplay |

i wouldn't bother. 3d is nothing more than the latest scam. 3d scam I kinda like your concern., and the blog itself but I experienced 3D first hand and would like to use it in order to get more in touch with my favorite game. no matter what it is., it does not remove the thrill excitement and entertainment it brings to its user. medically tho, i would find more facts before merely believing in a very opinionated blog. (even wikipedia cannot be trusted as much, how much more could a blog do?) but thanks for the concern. and I'll really research on that (i mean i don't wanna loose my sense of sight / become really unhealthy) thanks! 1
Actually, 3D gaming/movies is nowhere near a gimmick/scam. It's just a form of luxury for the people who have more money to burn on. For example, I don't earn much every month and I drink cheap beer. A friend of mine is the CEO of a certain company and he drinks 300 dollar bottles of wine. can hardly connect the analogy. lol :P wow a bottle of whine for 300$?? that's like 140ish beers. I'd take the beer anytime. "Milk is for babies, when they grow up they drink beer. When they grow old they drink whine" -Arnold Schwartzenegger 1
billy i agree with xedric can hardly connect the analogy. that is suppose to convince me that 3d isn't a scam. it didn't work. |
