With the ever increasing popularity of web-based storage and the steady flash/pen drive storage, is HP's innovative LightScribe technology quickly dying out? I still use LightScribe and in fact, I'm labeling a disc as I write this. I know the technology hasn't been updated in awhile and is very slow, but it still makes discs look good for people who don't have good handwriting. I would love to know what you guys think about this. |

my laptop [compaq 511] has lightscribe and i've never used it. because I don't know How T.T Do you really use a special kind of CD to Burn using it?? what do I look for so I'd know it's lightscribe compatible?? and finally when I have the CD, what do I do with it?? can it possibly damage my disc drive? thanks!! Check out their website for more info. It is a really neat system! http://lockergnome.net/questions/159499/hp-lightscribe |

i have noticed fewer dvd / cd burners with lightscribe, but i do not see it going away completely for a long while. case in point i'm thinking og getting a bluray / dvd burner and it has lightscribe. |

May I ask what lightscribe is? Does it print on discs with like a laser or something? Or is there a modified inkjet printing mechanism inside the drive? It intrigues me a bit :D
It is a laser that prints a "label" on to the CD or DVD. Not worth it TBH.
