I want to start an online shoutcast radio website with daily streaming. For general music, yes I will need a PRS licence. But here's the catch. My station will only play remixes done by other people with their permission. For example, songs like "Adele - Rolling In The Deep (Afrojack remix)" will be played. Will I need a PRS licence if I ask for the remixers (in this case Afrojack - highly unlikely I'll contact him though) permission, because it's their own version, or could I get away with out? But yeah, I will ask for smaller, unknown remixers permission because they are easier to contact if so. And, my god! What a coincidence. "Rolling In The Deep" has just came on the radio. |

PRS license? umm what. you can not legally stream copyrighted material, and its not worth the risk to be sued by RIAA , music labels or getting shut down by your ISP. sound exchanged is one source for licensing enforcement, they can help you stay legal but you have to pay out royalties for each track you play based on the number of listeners you have . this could be $1 a month to several hundred dollars a month! just remember no matter if you bought a CD, downloaded the music (legal or not). you don't own the rights to the music nor to re-boardcast it.
