  1. I will remove the battery when laptop is not in use, is that ok?
  2. Using the laptop in AC power w/o a battery = does this have a risk? will this damage the laptop?

I have an HP compaq 511

If you have the laptop plugged in all the time then your battery will benefit from taking it out. Plus your laptop will be lighter and produce a little less heat. Just make sure to use the batter every so often. Maybe once every couple weeks, maybe longer.
