I started collecting coins a long time ago, mostly ones brought back from holidays, recently I've started collecting rare and commemorative coins. I'm looking for a free or open source coin collecting application, the only one I've been able to find come from ducksoftware.com but it has a lot of bugs and is not very useable.

If possible I would like it to include a community based image database, for example if take a photo of one of my coins I could make that image available for other collectors to use.

Mark why not make a customized one with Microsoft Access or Open Office Base which is free and goes with the Open office Suite. It can be easily done and easy to learn on making it to suit your needs there. I know that is what I am going to do for my comic book collection over here.
