I have to listen to music in order to fall asleep now a days. I tend to feel a lot more tired when I listen to music when I sleep. What's the cause of this?

Calm, soothing tracks with not much vocals or bass can be relaxing. Not sure how you'd get to sleep listening to heavy metal or rap... or loud music in general. I'd say put a track of looping sounds such as the ocean or nature or something like that on an iPod or MP3 player and have it running on speakers at low key. Should help you sleep.

you basically can put yourself into a habbit of only being able to sleep while a specific music is playing. If you find yourself in a situation were you can't have that particular music playing then you may find yourself unable to sleep.

well I guess after an extremely long use you can condition yourself to fall asleep when a particular kind of music plays. This might work both ways though, you need to sleep, you put on your sleep music and fall asleep instantly. You sit in class and someone happens to play the tunes and you bush instantly.

a real hazard can of course be if you're using a headset or ear-ins you might strangle yourself with the cord.

I listen to music to release me before I go to sleep, so I guess it ultimately helps me sleep.
