There is software where you CAN. I think it's called wine if I'm not mistaken? Or wine cellar. Something like that. It can install and run windows apps on a Mac.

EDIT: I found it! http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/

Its easy to run simple .exe's, just get the mono framework installed and your good to go. For games, a properly done port will do the job. I switched from PC to Mac and didnt want to buy Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for mac, so i found a port for it, runs flawlessly.

Worst come to worst, you could install windows in bootcamp... but i try not to put windows on my mac.

But honestly anything worth using as a professional is available on both OS's.

Interesting. Still, unless this is just a program he's going to use once, he shouldn't really have bought a Mac in the first place :~)

Wine Bottler http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/

Like Corssover, it's based on Wine for Linux, but is completely free.

You can create a virtual machine, using software such as Parallels Desktop 6 or 7 for Mac or VirtualBox. From there, you can run your Windows applications inside a virtual machine. Virtual machines are basically computers inside computers(I know, very meta).

For some older programs, you can look at winebottler or wine.

You can also use crossover.
