OEM RAM Prices

Can anyone shed light as to why OEM RAM (from manufacturers like Dell, HP/Compaq, Apple) is 2 to 3 times the price of regular RAM (Kingston, Crucial, etc.)? I think it is ridiculous considering how the OEM RAM is made by no-name companies!

Because they take advantage of people that don't know any better. People think that because the OEM is selling the RAM, that it will definitely work whereas RAM from any other place won't. Of course, both thoughts are extremely wrong. I have had plenty of people tell me they need RAM, so I offer them some at a very good price but they turn around and purchase RAM from Dell "because it will work".

Also, if you are talking about pre-installed RAM when you buy a computer, the customer doesn't have to install it.

That's true but I think the question is about installing more RAM than what is already in the computer.
