So, you ever hear of the phrase "cut off your nose to spite your face"?

Basically if I read this correctly you're asking how to create a honeypot. Instead of reducing the actual functionality of your computer, you want to create files on your system that appear attractive and potentially easy to get with little effort on your possible hacker's part.

Personally, what I would do is I would install a virtual sandbox. I'd probably use Virtualbox and set it up with a Linux operating system. Then I'd put awesome stuff on it that looked really interesting and see if an attacker would look at that instead of my main OS. It might be interesting.

If you google "how to make a honeypot" you will find many articles on the subject. Note many of the articles detail why it is not a good idea to do this, but if you make a sandbox with a virtual pc you should be safe enough. Good luck!

I've never created such a mechanism before, but it shouldn't be hard. Certainly easier than creating a virus. Basically if you did this, you would download and install virtualbox, install an operating system of choice into the virtual machine, then download and install a suitable honeypot (a quick google reveals there are several) on the virtual OS.

You could create a batch file that creates another batch file and an autorun on his pen drive. The batch file on the pen drive could have the "format /autotest" command which will format the drive without any kind of prompting.

The original batch file should have the icon changed to something else and give it a name that wont give it away either. But, if this pen drive manages to be plugged back into your computer, you could be looking at an automatic format of your own. Make sure you disable autorun on your computer to prevent this from happening.

there are programs that replace the windows password system that cannot be bypassed at restart unlike the windows password system. i would suggest you research this option and use it instead. my concern is even if you create a virus just for the purpose of protecting your and others data something might go wrong and the virus might end up on comps you didn't want it on. then well meaning or not you would be in trouble. or use a data encryption program to lock the files / folders that you do not want others to access.

yeah i thought only viruses can do such a thing because "they" can break through all those password wall, data encryption, lock and etc so that's the only way.. I tried those way before is there any better locking system? Just when turn on your pc or laptop it just prompt out for password before enter boot scene or bios setting and unable to format without the password

You want to talk on this forum about viruses? Really? Sounds like this thread needs a closure.

OK then you do like people access your data don't ya people see your facebook open your personal picture your stuff games or whatever sometimes your skype msn or facebook never logout. And ITS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PUBLIC NOT TO HARM OTHER PEOPLE ITS PRIVATE YOUR OWN STUFF. I KNOW ONLY NOT OTHERS NOT HARMING AT ALL UNLESS PEOPLE WANT TO LOOK AT YOUR PERSONAL STUFF OR EDIT IT.

I'm trying to help myself and help others at the same time not to danger others don't i reserve the right to protect my own stuff ok then you tell me how you gonna protect your laptop/desktop put a windows password, encryption, data lock? All its useless totally just need some easy peasy hacker software decode it its open, generate or just break through directly even tho i don't know how but some people does. Any people could help with this question is totally helpful to the society.

First off, by their very existence a virus harms someone IN SOME WAY. No matter what. And no, I would not protect my own stuff with a Windows password. I wouldn't be that ridiculous. You want security? Use Linux.

(Sep 04 '11 at 02:22) Drmgiver Drmgiver's gravatar image

IN WHAT WAY UNLESS THEY ACCESS MY STUFF CAN'T YOU UNDERSTAND ENGLISH? I'M USING WINDOWS NOT LINUX BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE LINUX AND THATS NOT MY PROBLEM WHOLE WORLD BILLION ZILLION WHATEVER LION IS USING WINDOWS. PLUS LINUX ITS ONLY SECURITY? I NEED TO STORE LOT OF STUFF IN THERE GAMES BLABLABLA .ETC. LINUX LIMITATION I DON'T LIKE OWN OPINION
