Will Serial-ports be phased out completely? Serial-ports are still used in industry and for dial-up modems. Dial-up is useful for connecting to phone-BBSes if The Internet dies.

Yes, almost definitely. There are plenty of alternatives and better technologies available. Also, most new computers don't even come with a serial port installed. Of course there will be the few that like playing with older technologies and will keep it around as a novelty.

I still love my serial ports over hre. Even though they still have their good uses like with external Modems. Or when you need to use a null modem to telnet into a router or switch. Nothing I find better than to have a serial port still on my machines over here.

As in the one in the back of my laptop, with prongs sticking out? No. Programmers still use that in a lot of places.
