Any forums on free forum hosts get no respect from me at all. And many other people.

Okay, good to know. What is an example of a service that would be "well-respected"?

The only way to be taken seriously is to buy your own domain and rent space on servers for your site.

You need to differentiate yourself much more. Anyone can use a free forum host and use an ugly default template but that won't get people to post on it. Anyone could also use a free webhost and install a forum cms onto it.

Maybe a blog where users can submit reviews for things they like rather than a forum.
