I submitted a video for this question to the Questions To Answer YouTube channel but since I don't actually know if it will get up or not I thought I should also post here. The gyst of it is:

Just started college Studio 15 Dell Laptop has about 3 hour battery life and a lot of weight, not good for carrying around a campus all day. I don't want to be tied to AC outlets either. iPad 2 (my dream tablet is out of my price range) Looking at the possibility of an android tablet but it needs to have at least a front facing camera and good storage. What tablets would you recommend?

What is your budget?

If you can still pick up the Touchpad for $99, get it. You won't find a better one in that price range.

but it's so limited in what it can do since HP killed off the WebOS line

You can "hack" it (HP supports this) to open up the open source development stream so that you can get updates (basically for security) and still have a great tablet.

Personally, I have an iPad 1st gen 32 GB. You can buy my exact model for (I believe) $350 from Apple's website. I love Craigslist, and you can find great deals on an iPad on there. I recommend a used iPad, because you can't beat the experience on a different tablet for the same price.

True that. Wish I had a credit card to pay for it... :'(

@Avrgboy - Sure you would rather have the cash to avoid credit card debt for "stuff"

If it is in your price range, I would personally suggest the Toshiba Thrive. It is a VERY good deal and has A LOT of features. It has a front facing camera (2MP) and a whole lot more. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Thrive+Tablet+with+16GB+Hard+Drive+-+Black+Tie/2769576.p?id=1218349687286&skuId=2769576

It also comes in a 32GB and 64GB model. It says hard drive but it is solid state storage.

Coming only $70 under the iPad baseline model!

(Sep 03 '11 at 22:42) catchatyou catchatyou's gravatar image

True, but this (IMHO) has more features.

I just don't like the OS that it runs.

That looks nice but it's a bit out of my range. Nice to see the latest android os on it though.
