Hi everyone. So my dad N I got Kaspersky Internet security 2011 for our two PC's. It installed and updated fine on his old 2001 Dell PC runnig XP by my 2009 laptop running 7 had problems. When prompted to update during install, it said it couldn't install it because I had a virus. My dad was alone when he was working on it so he tried to install just the version that came on the disk. It installed but he couldnt register the product because I didn't have an internet connection. It also said it could be a problem with Google Chrome firewall or something. I don't know if I have a Chrome firewall but I do have an add-on called "web of trust " which in a nutshell, let's me know that websites are safe or not. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks!

Why should you pay for an antivirus when it's released by microsoft at full capacity for FREE?? google this: microsoft security essentials.

if you're not using a pirated Windows OS, then you have nothing to worry about.

plus according to benchmarks, MS Essentials is way way better than Kaspersky! yeah, but don't worry, cause you can use them TOGETHER. :)

*cheers

Web of trust is not a firewall, it is a service to help users on knowing what site is safe or not, marked by 3 color flags (Green=good, Yellow=warning, Red=Get out of the site). It hows you which websites you can trust based on millions of users' experiences.

Chrome does not even have a firewall, it could be windows firewall or some other firewall program.

For your computer, you can try and use something like malwarebytes to first remove it (since it does not interfere with anti-virus). Or use a live cd antivirus to get the virus removed
