hey all, i wanted to know how i could play .MKV files on my IPad. i travel quite often and i have a lot of TV shows that i converted to .MKV but i can only use .MP4 which makes the files huge when converted. I was also planning on buying the Seagate GoFlex Satellite so i could stream them that way and have more with me when i'm traveling. any suggestions on what can i do? many thanks |

there was a VLC app available for iPod & iPhone but i believe its been since removed. I wouldn't remember though, as i haven't owned any kind of apple device since January when my clearly poorly built ipod touch (as they all are) broke. |

If your on a mac, download software called 'handbrake' this comes with presets to convert any video files to any apple device. |
|
You could download Prism Video File Converter, it works for me :) |

Flex player for ipad plays them. Use the app, then within itunes, you can drag and drop the mkv files. |
|
PlayOn will stream mkv files from a computer to an iPad,iPod, android, xbox 360, and even my directv boxes. If you're home thats a good way to do it. |

On Windows use format factory to convert them. |

I'd open it up in QuickTime Pro and export it as an .m4v, like I've been doing for over two years now...on the same 4G iPod Touch I've had since they came out. |
