I'm so excited to try it out (even though it would be more fun to try on a tablet). Has anyone installed it yet?

Definitely not liking this as much as I should on a VM. I'm going to download the 32-bit version and install on my old desktop.

This is amazing running on a desktop, and it boots is 6 seconds on an old pentium 4!

Might be a dumb question - but where, pray tell, can we download these dev builds?

I am going to download tomorrow, while I am at work. My slow connection doesn't let me get it by the morning, and I am heavy on bandwith early on in the day.. once I go off to work, if I have it qued up, I should be good by the time I get home.

That is, if things stay stable. :\

Wish they would set up "alternative" download methods.. that are resumable. Can't say a particular one but it springs to all our minds, I am sure. :D

Can't wait to try it out though! Going to virtualize it fully.

We don't need to worry about TORRENTING. A lot of big business use it legally. It's just what I do that ISPs seem to have a problem with! Lol.

(Sep 13 '11 at 21:55) korin125 korin125's gravatar image

It's sometimes treated like a dirty word here, so I was simply being cautious. Yep, Torrenting in and of itself is fine, it's simply a matter of what content you are sharing with it.

If only people could understand this... but I digress, yes, it would be VERY nice if they would set up a torrent for the files. :D

I am downloading it right now. I have to 32-Bit downloading for a VM and the 64-Bit (With Dev tools) one downloading for a computer.

EDIT: Installing the preview right now in Virtual Box.

Are you having mouse issues? This seems to happen to me on virtualbox without the guest additions.

(Sep 13 '11 at 23:00) korin125 korin125's gravatar image

Ya, the mouse was being odd and so where a few other things. Im not sure what is wrong.

I apparently am not very good at installing OSs, so no I'm not haha.

To be honest, I probably will upgrade to 7 next because that interface in 8 may be completely useless to me.

The Metro UI will be optional and something that can apparantly be turned off in favour of the more standard desktop. The Metro UI is primarily aimed at tablets and touch-screen/touchpad input but is optional and not something you are forced to use.

WOW!! so my mother can safely use her PC with windows 8 without me having to teach em and risk destroying it. hahahaha

Some things never stick how often I repeat them, so I would never be sure they won't break something.

I'd love to hear your guys's reviews on it. I don't want to risk downloading it. I'm not into downloading developer previews of operating systems or operating system betas.

Well it's not to install likely, unless you have a computer specifically for that. I'm just running it in virtualbox, my only problem is virtualbox itself messing up with my mouse.

Downloading now, will install tomorrow evening as that's when I will have time. Even though I am a mac user I am excited to test virtually. I have a secondary computer that is an IBM so if it seems quite stable in the VM I may give it a wirl on there.

Got it installed and internet working. It's cool. Still got to test some things and give it a real good test. No crashes so far and chrome works!
