According to Best Buy, Win 7 Home Premium is STILL $200 (unless you have student discount) which I think is outrageous. I'm guessing Win 8 will have a price tag around $300-$300 and probably a $100 ore more upgrade price tag. How much do you think it will cost and will you be buying it right away?

I don't believe there'll be a reason to buy it right away, but for me personally I won't be getting it right away. I enjoy having a dev pre-beta copy to test out and get a feel for some of what it is, but for me my Windows 7 has seemingly been working fine except for a few hiccups here or there. So far, Windows 8 just hasn't impressed me that much yet, but we'll see within the next year how it turns out. As for the pricing, I'd say to assume like any other Microsoft software... around $300, and probably a few different versions of it w/ varying prices as with Windows 7.

It better not be that much. Microsoft needs to learn that people don't always want to spend $200 on a "shinier" version of Windows... Especially during these tough times.

You have to take in to account that Windows works very well with many devices. If they cut the cost down they would make it less compatible. If you have Windows 7 already just keep what you have and wait like what a lot of people do. If you have a problem with that then go buy a Mac.

If Microsoft makes it $99, they'll make a lot of people happier, because honestly, I wouldn't pay more than $30 on it anyway (too many viruses and bugs). $200 is way too much money for that kind of operating system.

I imagine it will be the same price as Windows 7, so $199-$300 which is a bit on the high side, Windows is worth it sense it is the only system that can do everything I want without a single issue. I will just stick with Windows 7 for now because it works fine and it is too soon to buy another operating system even if it is next year.

""""""""too many viruses""""""""""

They are out there yet I never have any issues with viruses on any Windows system.

Nerve got a virus in Vista either. What will happen when viruses start appearing more frequently on Apple products? They are getting more popular each day.

I hear that so often and it is not even a worry, at least I can toss any hardware, software on my Windows 7 computer and have it work and I do not worry about viruses at all. For one I do not go to sites where they can be an issue and even if I did my system is protected.

The OEM version will probably be 100 bucks like every other version has been.

I'll say around the same price as Windows 7 but maybe, just maybe, they'll make it cheaper if you do an automatic upgrade from 7 to 8.

Most people upgrade windows when they buy a new PC... So price is in fact irrelevant for most people... Windows users are not like Mac users. Mac users tend to keep up with the latest and greatest that Cuppertino delivers, however windows users don't tend to do that (geeks aside)... They will wait until they change their PC...

Look at how long it has taken for Windows 7 to overtake XP in marketshare... Win7 has now only overtaken it in terms of userbase...

Probably about the same as Windows 7. But you never know maybe Microsoft will follow Apple's lead and lower the price. Similar to how they added the Windows Store to Windows 8. But even a $100 price is fine in my opinion but less than $50 would be much better.
