Physical keyboards still have the tactile feedback, something which not only confirms the sucessful press of a key but also the positioning of your fingers. Also the fact you hve to physically arrange you fingers reduces the chance of slipping or displacing them so you do not need to look at the keyboard to keep checking your positioning.

That being something no flat surface or for that matter a touch-screen can provide.

No. Just no. Have you ever tried coding on a touch keyboard? Basically impossible due to how many mistakes are made because of the inability to feel key edges and hear tactile feedback. Innovations will continue to roll in but I do not see keyboards dissapearing; their popularity may dive though.

No, my main workstation will always be a desktop computer with a separate physical keyboard and mouse.

I believe having a keyboard will still be around for a long time. I deal with using a keyboard a lot over here for creating documents and also do some coding from time to time as well. And the keyboard is essential even for me over here. So keyboards are here to stay.

How would you game or do any type of coding on a touchscreen. I personally think this whole tablet and multi-touch market is destroying what we know as the true desktop PC...

Everyone might decide to go multi-touch, but I believe there will be a small group of users who remain with physical keyboards; basically coders, and other real IT professionals.
