Title says everything. PowerPC allowed me to use apps and games ( diablo II ), now that it doesn't work, is there a way to make them work? |
Unfortunately, there is no way to run PowerPC apps in Lion, as Rosetta (the emulation layer for PowerPC apps) is no longer part of Mac OS X. |
You should've thought about that before upgrading... That's why I'm staying at 10.6, and I'm happy with my current configuration... My only suggestion is to either dual-boot with 10.6 & 10.7, or install 10.6 in a new version of VMware Fusion.... or play it in windows..... |

Apple made the switch from PowerPC to Intel a couple of years back. Their reasoning was that the performance per watt of power was far superior to PowerPC in the long run. OS X worked on both PowerPC and Intel up till Leopard. Snow Leopard could only run on Intel based Macs, but could use 'Rosetta' to run the older PowerPC apps on the newer OS. Unfortunately for some, Apple has decided to no longer develop 'Rosetta' going forward, so Lion can't run PowerPC apps. Lion takes the final step to move away from PowerPC apps. Sorry, but you can't run them on Lion. |

same problem here but if you really want to use power pc apps, then run windows on your mac{i dont do windows} |
yes one good thing about windows is their backwards compatibility, now if windows 8 changes all that.. fuck em to hell -.- |
Rosetta was great. Its really a pity we can't bypass it. |

You could downgrade back (or dual-boot) to Snow Leopard or run it in a VM to run PowerPC apps. Generally, that's the reason why I'm still using Snow Leopard. I think they just removed it because it was seen as "obsolete." |
