Hey

I'm looking into protecting my MBP in a hard case of some sort. I no Chris uses a Speck case and i was wondering what these are like. I've heard many many mixed reviews about these products about the heat issues and other things.

What are peoples experience with the Speck cases, The incases and also the Incase perforated case?

I take my mac to a lot of live gigs and have it on stage with me and it is in and out of a bag almost everyday. I already have a good sleeve but id rather be safe than sorry. The audio applications i use can be processor heavy so heat is a major worry for me

Thanks!

I use a Speck clear case on my MBP (mid-2009) and I run Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Soundbooth simultaneously (along with web browser, email, etc.) While it does run a couple degrees hotter, I haven't had any performance issues, random shut downs, or even a hint of any kind of problem because of it.

I have a Speck Black case on my Macbook Pro 17 inch, and the case does not affect the performance in any way that I can notice. I play a lot of FPS games on OS X and in Windows, and the temperature does increase to 90 Celsius (194 Fahrenheit), when the CPU is maxed out, but it never shuts down... I'm not sure if the increased temperature is due to the case, or if that's normal for 17 inch Macbook Pro's...

It's a good investment, and I also recommend the iSkin keyboard cover. It will protect your Macbook from dust and potentially lethal spills that could fry your motherboard.
