I run windows vista (perfectly fine) and i was looking into getting a anti-virus program that does not hog system resources, also I will not take one that pops notifications up in my face every 4.5 seconds. I am currently using AVG (Free version). Also I use my PC for gaming normally so if it comes with a firewall I would like to have that easily modified. |

I also recommend MSSE, but another really good one is Avast! |

Microsoft security essentials works fine for me. It's free and there are no annoying pop-ups either |

I go by the "You are your own anti-virus" method, but I still use Microsoft Security Essentials just for good measure. |

You have two options: Upgrade to Win 7 (Serious Speed Upgrade) Degrade to XP (Mega Speed Upgrade) Problem Solved. 1
It's not speed I need this PC is fast enough, seriously Vista works fine if you fine tune it to your liking. yep vista is fine, but your PC can do MUCH BETTER if it is windows 7. anyway, it's up to you, that's your money. @timothys let's just answer the question man. and yes, my answer is Microsoft Security Essentials too. you can search all over the web for benchmarks like resource consumption, effectivity, false positives, pop-ups. , pricing. all of them are Aced by MS Security Essentials. |
