First of all, your post was painful to read. Second of all, do you remember if it worked last time it was used? Also, what does the BSOD say?

Yes the last time I used it it worked. The BSOD says:

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

Technical Information: *** STOP: 0X000000ED (0XB6EBBE30, 0XC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

Chances are the Hard Drive is having trouble. You might have to get a new one and install it in the laptop.

As for the no Disk Drive, you can either buy a cheap external drive to use, or place the contents of the Windows install disk on a USB thumb drive, and install Windows with that.

How would I do that?

Okay, the error message you posted above basically says that something has gone wrong with the hard drives formatting. You'll have to go into the recovery console on the Windows install disk and repair it.

  1. First you'll have to get your Windows XP Disk onto a flash drive. Follow this guide, which recommends a great tool to make the job easy:

http://www.techtipsgeek.com/install-windows-from-usb-flash-pen-drive/559/

  1. Once its done, plug the new Windows XP USB Installer into your broken laptop and boot to it instead of the broken drive.

  2. When the text-based part of Setup begins, follow the prompts. Select the repair or recover option by pressing R when given the option.

  3. When it asks for a command, type in " CHKDSK /r ". This will scan the disk and attempt to repair any errors on the disk. You can also run " fixmbr " and " fixboot " to repair and replace the master boot record and boot sectors if CHKDSK doesn't work.
