Even though it isn't out to beat the iPad, would you consider buying a Kindle Fire? What would you primarily use it for? |

When some group roots it to make it a android tablet, I think I may get one... Unless I can get a touchpad. |

Heeaw yeeah! The Kindle fire looks awesome. I think it's going to fill that niche that the $99 Touchpad opened up. A decent, functional tablet, for a great price. Have you seen the Archos tablet? It's supposed to cost around $99. I want a tablet, I don't need one though. I have an iPod, iMac, MacBook Pro, and a Dell XPS. I want one though, I just can't really justify anything more than $200- $300. Being a Mac man, I want a lot of features and functionality for my money. I think the Fire is what I'll wind up with. |

I just purchased a HP TouchPad and now I am broke, so I might be buying it in the future. I want to check out some reviews on it a little bit more, and also look more closely at the specs and if the Fire is reliable. |

Also bought a HP touchpad, works extremely well and is extremely responsive after doing all of the performance tweaks and overclocking. (have it running at about 1.83GHz which is decent for for a dual core snapdragon arm CPU) Plays 1080p video with no issues. only issue is the camera sucks and it has no SD card slot and the battery is not user replaceable. The kindle fire has a dual core CPU with very little info released about it it only has 512MB ram which is not enough for proper multitasking. Anyway, it is a decent tablet based on what was shown so far, and the belief that it will be modded to get a full android OS on it with access to the real android market. The 512MB RAM is a bit low especially since the android OS can use nearly half of that memory before running any apps. (with 1GB ram, you can multitask games, eg need for speed and other games while also running a browser and other small apps) |

I have an iPad, and can't imagine anything replacing it. The Kindle Fire may not be an "iPad killer", but it has certainly got me interested. I was going to purchase a new iPod Touch, to carry in my hand bag. Now that's on hold, until I can see what the Kindle Fire can do. So, in my case, it may be an "iPod Touch killer". This does hinder my goal to have my home and life work off of one platform seamlessly, but until Apple comes out with a 7 inch tablet, I'm forced to look else where. Sorry gentlemen, size does matter (at least in this case). And this is the perfect size to slip into my purse, without getting buried amongst a wallet, hair brush, cosmetic bag, stray envelopes and notes. I also want to try out the Kindle Fire's browser. So if the reviews come back fairly good, I will most definitely buy one. For $200, I've paid that in shoes. If I had to, I would be perfectly happy to go barefoot....so long as I have my "stuff". This just may be the "android" I've been looking for. |
