I've hooked up my laptop PC to my 19" TV via HDMI but the resolution is too big (1920 X 1080) and won't display a full window without cutting the top and sides off. The next resolution down is too small and not wide enough. Is there anyway I can get a custom resolution or fix this? I'm using it as a second display.
EDIT: I've tried what Daz suggested and the custom resolutions aren't working. I've set it to 1280 x 980 and it still stays the same. Any suggestions?

What graphics card are you using? You need to find out what card you're using firstly. Second of all (if you haven't already got it installed) you need to download the graphics utility for your graphics card. Nvidia have the Nvidia Control Panel and ATI have the Catalyst Control Center.
Once you have one of these installed (if you're using Intel HD graphics there should be a utility already installed) you need to launch the application. Somewhere in that utility will be an option for you to set custom resolutions, refresh rates, contrast and brightness etc.

It almost sounds like your 19" TV is using a non-standard resolution. It might be worth trying to find out what is the native resolution of your TV. 480p, 720p, 720i, 1080p, or 1080i? Your laptop should support all of the p resolutions except maybe 480p.
