I just really want it to die. I understand the appeal of this kind of online game but I think it's gone too far. For the weak minded is a welcome destraction from ACTUAL LIFE, and that means that these people are going to spend, sorry waste, a lot of time playing and not doing anything else. I have a friend who went from being a size 8 to a size 18 (UK sizes) just because all she did every day was log in to world of warcraft. It baffles me. Not trying to offend anyone who plays, but come on!

If there were a way to kill it, it would already be dead. Many a girlfriend would have murdered WoW by now.

It's their life why do you care? If you're disturbed that some people choose a video game instead of life then by all means shout at them. You might as well shout at the heroine addict on the street, go ahead see what difference it makes. WoW is not addictive, it's not in the DSM-IV nor will it be in the next version. It's more of an impulse control disorder than an actual addiction. Still there exists clinics for this kind of "addiction" but they've never really helped anybody. I've personally seen and experienced friends fating worse than gain 10 sizes due to real addiction. Friends I've had has bit the dust due to overdose of speed and coke, even heroine.

And why do you say it's a waste of time? It's not, if it wasn't for WoW my English would be completely terrible. It is a hobby, everyone can misuse a hobby. You don't complain at golfers planning their and their family's spare time towards golfing and spending thousands on golf clubs.

The are what 10 million + another million or two private server players of WoW. It is very few who is as addicted as they are, and Blizzard has implemented features to stop it. While yes obviously you can do better and more productive things with your time, but what gives you the right to shout that into somebody's face? It's non of your business.

If someone is addicted to WoW they have an addictive personality and anything will addict them, and i think WoW is a better addiction to have than alcohol, smoking, drugs, eating, watching tv etc. Any normal minded person knows the difference between real life and a game and control when they play. If you are addicted to the game it is you have the addictive personality, nothing to do with the game, come on, get your facts straight before you insult and judge people.

I'm not sure how I've offended you, but I'm sorry if i have. I just think that the promotion of interaction with machines rather than more tactile, possibly more productive, activities has gotten a litle out of hand. Yes there probably is an element of "addictive personality" involved, but I think that for the most part that's a poor excuse. If this was seen as a real addiction, do you think it would be freely promoted the way it is? That's what I relly have a problem with. This behavior is acceptable, and it shouldnt be.

There are adverts on tv for alcohol, and online, the same way that world of warcraft can be advertised, the same way call of duty can be advertised, cant stop advertising all food on tv because people get fat and are addicted to food. You cant blame world of warcraft for people ruining their lives, like you cant blame donuts for making people fat. If people stupid enough to eat 30 donuts a day, get rid of donuts and they will eat 30 packets of crisps, get rid of world of warcraft people will go to RoM or CoD or will watch movies all day.

For not trying to offend anyone, yet immediately calling them weak minded then you havn't exactly managed that very well.

I would just stop now since all you are doing is digging yourself into a hole and changing the subject once someone challenged you.
