i have a nice Windows computer i built last year with a core i7 in it but I've been curious about Mac os for a long time. also I use iMovie in my iPhone all the time and i love it i think it does a better job that windows movie maker so that makes me think that that iMovie version for the Mac must be way way way better so. should i buy a mac mini just to use iMovie????

Instead, you can have a look at the whole list of other video editors out there. Namely Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier Pro.

Anyone else mind mentioning more? :P

Yeah don't go buy one if you already have a good computer. There are lot's of programs like or better than imovie for windows. btw Adobe After Effects :)

After Effects isn't really an editor. It's a VFX and motion graphics compositing tool. Premiere is Adobe's video editor.

Anywho, your i7 PC is already fully capable of editing videos. Just the issue of video editing software that you prefer.

Yeah I love Macs but really spending hundreds of dollars for iMovie? Not worth it, plus you wouldn't be able to edit on your more powerful machine. If you're willing to spend that much on an editor get something like Premiere Pro, or Lightworks if you'd rather pay nothing. If you're a student you can get the whole Adobe Production Suite for $350, which is a steal.

Yes, these programs have more of a learning curve than iMovie, but they are more robust and powerful and if you're willing to learn it will be worth it.
