I thought it be a fun idea to compare the hardware of the iPhone 4s to other hardware available. Note that the components don't necessarily fit in the same device. But they are the top non-iPhone mobile phones existing. CPU iPhone4S: Apple A5 1GHz dual core with 512MB DDR2 RAM @ 533MHz. 64KB L1, 1MB L2. 45nm Competitor: Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 QSD8672 1.5GHz dual core with 1GB 333MHz RAM. 1MB L2. 45nm GFX iPhone4S: it uses a PowerVR SGX543MP2 module which really doesn't make any sense because it's two years old. Competitor: Cortex A9 series Exynos 4210. It's about 6 months old module but because how these chips are built they cannot be compared very well. As to which one is better I have no idea. Connections iPhone4S: Quadband HSDPA 14.4Mbit/s, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) (2.4 GHz only), Bluetooth 4.0 Competitor: Quadband HSPA+ 42 Mbit/s, HSUPA 5.76 Mbit/s, Wi-Fi(802.11a/b/g/n), NFC, DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0 Storage iPhone4S: 64GB Competitor: 16GB (with 32GB microSD card 48GB) Screen iPhone4S: 3.5" 640×960 326PPI Competitor: 4.3" 800x480 218PPI Camera iPhone4S: shitty mobile camera Competitor: shitty mobile camera That is the hardware I've bothered with looking up.. Keep this in mind, all of the competitor hardware has been out for quite a while. New competitor phones with much better performance are awaiting in 2012 Q1. This is one of the reasons I'm really disappointed by the iPhone 4S. I don't like macs, but iPhones and iPods are really nice! Too bad they can't get with the times =/ Note: The iPhone4S is much smaller than the phones it is compared to, thus has limited space for components or more importantly the battery. PS. Apple stop hiding your system specs! It's damn hard to make a comparison when you only release some of the information -.- Same goes for Qualcomm! |

Its not all about the hardware. No point having the worlds best hardware if the software is not great. The iPhone 4S has good specs and a great OS. |
