Firstly the not so charming iPhone 4S launch and now the death of Steve Jobs. Maybe this is the start of the downfall of Apple. Or Can Tim Cook do something spectacular. What do you guys think.

Good question. I was wondering the same thing, but thought it disrespectful to talk about so soon after his death. After Tim Cook spoke, Apple stock dropped 5%. I'm afraid that Apple stock will take a hit in the morning. Apple has very deep pockets, and I don't see them imploding anytime soon. I do predict that Apple's Operating Systems will soon be sold as another product to load on non-Apple hardware.

It's sad that even with so much wealth, Steve Jobs couldn't buy his way out to cure Cancer.

I can safely say, OS X will never be sold for PCs. Steve Jobs said it many times. Their software is built specifically for their hardware, to put it on anything else would be a disgrace to the software. It wouldn't be the same. That's the heart and soul of Apple, hardware built for software. It's why Apple follows the vertical integration business model. It will never happen. Ever.

will Tim Cook replace him? - NO , Tim cook himself admitted that. "he is irreplaceable"

but

Tim cook has been handling apple alone for more than a year since Steve Jobs was often in the hospital for his treatment. did you notice anything worse during the past 2 years? I doubt it, and you so much love apple recently when steve jobs wasn't running it.

but will apple still have an Idea as bright and as genius as Steve Jobs? I hope so... Steve jobs is great at innovation.

He had in mind what was never in the mind of others. He created a demand for something that was NEVER in demand before. If there would be people from apple to arise as the new "steve jobs" when it comes to innovation, then steve Jobs has successfully taught his people well. let's just see what'll happen next.

Good luck Mac.. Good luck Apple. I sincerely need you to compete with Windows. or else. :(

Tim Cook lacks that flare, i noticed it during the keynote a few days ago. He is more of a business man rather than an innovator.

that's why No one person alone can replace steve. he can run the business yes, but the Innovator we are looking for must be "in every employee" of apple. I hope that's what they mean when they said that "his spirit will forever remain with apple"

I genuinely feel something that 99 percent people will disagree....Apple will slide down...rather glide down slowly and some new company is gonna come up..maybe the CEO is still in a college or something....

Tim will have a hard time keeping up Apple at it's own, the reason Steve made Apple so great was through his inventions and innovations, I don't think Tim has that.

The Downfall happened after the launch of iPhone 4S and now I think its recovering...

I think that Steve and the board chose Tim for a reason, obviously, and they have faith in him. But with Steve's passing it unfortunately really makes people long for that emotional stage presence and excitement that set apple apart. I for one am acutely aware that the absence of that excitement and drive makes me worry that the products I depend on won't survive. I know that Steve has been away from the day to day operations for a long time, but unfortunately the public perception does dictate what happens. I know apple can survive and thrive without Steve but is everyone else convinced of that? I am not suggesting that Tim Cook be replaced, but I would like to see Jonathan Ive become the one to unveil products and create hype. He has that way of speaking that generates excitement and truly communicates the amazing nature of the products. Nothing against Tim Cook, but his keynote was pretty boring. Jonathan focuses on the things that Steve did, the design and the revolution in the products. I would rather hear Jonathan in the keynotes. He has a little bit of that "Steve quality" without being a counterfeit or copy. He is a gentle reminder of Steve with the chops to speak because he has designed so many of the products.

He can handle it, It is not just 1 person handling apple, it is an entire team and the CEO generally handles the direction the company heads in and the rest of the people work on the details and technical challenges. (no one can handle running an entire company and all of the details by them self)

And if anything Steve most likely left behind many new ideas yet to be implemented. Generally someone like him will have many innovations planned for the future, so we will still see many of his ideas being implemented over the years.

Do you think that Tim Cook could do as good of a job as Jobs did. Meaning if he were to take on what Steve Jobs did and be as innovative and detailed as he was with the Mac, Ipod, Ipad, and Iphone. Do the kind of thing that Steve job did to make it as successful has jobs had it when he was head of Apple himself.
