I'm in the market for a new Mac. I'll use it for Web browsing, homework, a little bit of Starcraft, and some light Final Cut Pro editing. Here are my options: Macbook Air 13-Inch (Highest End) MacBook Pro 15-Inch (Lowest End) iMac 27-Inch (Low End for the Size) |

For LIGHT editing, you wouldn't need the 27 inch iMac. I think the MacBook Pros and the 21.5 inch iMac would be better suited for you. |

Macbook Air. Those can run many of all of the programs out there considering the specs. Like you said, LIGHT EDITING, the Air should be good. Besides they were just updated and extremely portable. Hope this helps. |

I agree with most of the other posts here, but my philosophy is buy as much power as you can afford. Why skimp and later find that it doesn't suit your needs? Why get a Air and when you need to add ram you find out you can't and you end up selling to buy another one. I tell people all the time...buy what you can afford! If you can afford a 27" Mac, buy it and your eyes will thank you. If you can only afford a used 13" MacBook, get it! You never know what you may have to do with your computer in the future. The only other concern is whether you want to be mobile or stationary in the home. Then you know whether you're looking at a laptop or desktop...travel a lot? Then the Air would be a pretty good choice. I hope that helps a bit in making the right choice. @Komputergod: You have been bumping up really old questions that honestly a year and a half later a lot has changed in the world of technology. Perhaps take a look at the new question on the site. Thank you. @TheTechDude...I didn't even see the dates! lol I just joined the site a day ago. I'll look at that from now on. Thanks! |

You don't need the high-end versions of either device, the lowest 13" macbook pro will be enough. The macbook air is a good choice as well but the pro comes with more features, CD drive, more ports etc etc. |

a 21.5" iMac or even a 13" Macbook Pro will suffice. Hope this helps :D |
