Apple wasn't obligated to bring out an iPhone 5 or a major update this year. It’s the fault of individuals who read into the rumor mill too much. People got their hopes up way too much and because Apple released an evolutionary update rather than a revolutionary update, everyone went insane. However, keep in mind the following:
This thing is going to go like crazy, the stock market will relax as it always does, and peoples complaining will cease as they see the quarter 4 figures. 1
I'm still not gonna get the iPhone, due to personal preferences and the fact that the iPhone looks too darn plain to me. I like something that will stand out, not look uniform. I think people were just expecting too much in the update. I personally will gladly get one when they are released. I don't see why people are bashing apple so much. They do a good job at making some cool stuff. |

I agree with Joseph in that people were expecting too much, 1080P recorder, better optics and mega pixels, faster graphics, faster CPU. Funny thing is if we had all of that plus a new design it would have been a bigger deal. This seems normal, new design every couple years with general updates around once a year. Kind of a lot to get a new design every summer. |
