Do these MacBook Pro temperatures normal?

Hello,

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz, and I have a Thunderbolt Display hooked up to it. I suddenly noticed the computer is a bit hot and sometimes the fans kick at points that it seems unexpected, like watching a YouTube video on 720p.

2.0 GHz CPU on a laptop and playing YouTube videos in 720p? That's definitely a reason for the fan to spin up.

0	yea thats normal. i think intel says its not a problem until 100. but i don't like getting mine over 80. smcfancontrol is a good way to monitor it and keep it cooled down. answered Oct 12 '11 at 19:08 GilOsborne 586●19●22●29

Try not to put your laptop on your lap or any un-flat surface. It blocks air vents. Put it on a table or desk, or get a flat hard book to put under the laptop if you need to sit down.

that right there is the biggest thing. i have a targus mat i keep by my bed. it has 2 fans on it and powers via usb. it keeps my laptop cool and i can use my laptop in bed without worrying about ventilation. i forget how much it was but i think only like 20. well worth it.
