Windows start-up repair error (help)

When Windows starts it asks to launch startup error fix or start Windows normally. No matter what I pick , it has a continuous black screen. I REALLY do NOT want to re-install Windows. It is Windows 7 Home. Please help. Thanks in advance. Update: It is in safety mode. It shows the Windows login background. Nothing to click though...
