Well in 2006 my mother, brother, and father was all tied into one bill they didn't have the family plan either. So one day someone at school told my brother about texting and after that my brother have that a test and thought it was cool. He did not ask my Dad if it was okay to text with no fees. Well apparently the text messages were 25 cent each and at this time he was in middle school and was very popular. So it the end of the bill cycle and we get a bill for $1,250.95. My dad went crazy like fireworks.

Don't have to worry about that when your using a pay as you go service. If you have no money on the cell then no texting or making calls out on the cell phone. Or receiving any. Mind you I always check to see how much I have before topping up on it. So It is always a small buffer of money on it. :-)

I pay every three months and the highest it's ever been on is €435. Though in Scandinavia there are ALOT of services you can pay by phone, so the highest actual bill I've ever got was €3,469.00 But of course only €60 or so was the regular texting, phone, internet use. The rest was mostly train tickets, flight tickets, donations and beer when at the pubs.

I don't use the phone much. Email is free and I can talk to people over the seas with it.

never had a bill because i'm on pay as you go, and it's a real good company, it's 1p international calls! which is all i use it for, and my wife has the same sim and i get 100 free minutes to call anyone on the same network with each £5 topup.

never going to go onto a contract because of the charges.

and after reading this:

Women gets $200,000 bill http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2050717/My-life-Shock-200-000-roaming-charges-womans-brother-takes-phone-holiday.html

i dont think i ever will get a contract, well unless i see a real good deal, you can sometimes get free laptops or ps3's when you get some contracts, but the payments are too high.
