Apple and the Gaming industry

We all have seen Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360. Microsoft writes software, Sony builds computers. Apple writes and builds! What if, what just if, Apple decides to go into the Gaming industry? Not only that, but maybe beyond that! What if Apple makes a super device that tops any machine on the planet for gaming, able to stream movies, blu-ray player, mp3 player and the ability to facetime! What if Apple builds a Super Console able to do all this?

What do you guys think on this? I think it'll be awesome, Apple, shit just build that console and I'm buying it for sure!! Do you think this would be the best next step for Apple's tomorrow?

The only ones who will be "jaw dropped " will be the ones who don't care if someone else actually own their property. i.e. The iAnything.

Sure if they deem it a worthwhile project. I wouldn't buy it, but if you would enjoy it more power to you. I would be too worried they would set it up like an iDevice. That alone turns me off.

I don't see Apple doing quite that. It seems like Apple's next big thing will be a TV set. The reason they want to do an actual TV set and stray away from consoles and boxes like the Apple TV is because they know people hate having to switch between 5 different inputs and 5 different remotes, all having different annoying interfaces. I think if they want to get into the serious gaming market (not just iOS games) that will be a feature included in their TV set. Everything will be seamless and simple. Cable, internet media, iTunes and iCloud streaming, maybe games, and I'm sure some other awesome features they'll surprise us with.

I still don't see Apple getting into the gaming market beyond iOS though. I think the "iTV" (or whatever they call it) will be able to be controlled completely with an iDevice, and I don't see them developing a new gaming controller or anything. The idea is to simplify things and minimize the amount of crap people have to keep track of. I feel like Apple approaches these things with a "Mo' buttons mo' problems" mentality. So in the end I think we'll have some awesome and powerful iOS games designed specifically for streaming to "iTV" (we already have this with certain games streaming to the Apple TV over Airplay). And as the iDevices become more powerful, so will the games.

But that's just what I see happening. Could be wrong.

Agreed. What if however, Apple is able to create ONE DEVICE, that acts as a home entertainment set and a console at the same time. I don't see it impossible, and the way I see it, if it goes big and everyone is satisfied with what that device has to offer, maybe it'll just work. I mean think of it this way, my house alone, I have a DVD player, a HD PVR, a console and a home stereo set that has crazy wiring. If Apple can build a device with all that in one, I say it deserves the cash.

No doubt though, they might not go beyond the iDevice boundary, but who knows?

Yeah, that's exactly what they're working on. The rumors say it will be Siri-controlled ("Go to ESPN", "Show me some funny YouYube videos", "Play my party playlist"... awesome).

I think it's possible that Apple could be working on something similar, you make valid points in the fact that Microsoft and such make consoles, but Apple has never been known for gaming. They do, however, have the software to game amazingly. I don't believe it's that bold or outrageous of a theory.

I would like to see this actually. Apple, being the greatest creative visionaries on earth (in my mind.), of course a subjective statement, but back to what I was saying, they're so creative, they should be getting into this. Gaming is a huge industry, but to problem I see is that either EVERYBODY would be changing to the "iConsole" or nobody would.

Please Apple, make this.
