I need help !

You shouldn't ask for Karma tips. Karma is awarded to community members who actively engage in real conversations. Think of Karma as a way to get to know someone without knowing them. For example, if you ask a question and get 2 answers which one would you be more likely to listen to? The one posted by a user with 10K karma or the user with 6 karma points?

Karma lets you know that this person regularly answers, asks, and moderates questions. If you want to become an active member, I highly recommend it. The karma points will come over time. But this site is a great resource and tool. Use it and always remember, you get what you put in.

Why do you want karma? It just shows who's been here the longest. 1-1000 is the hardest, after that people tend to upvote you just because you've got a whole lot of karma. But a general tip is to make good answers and questions. A bad tip is pissing off those with high karma, that will probably get you banned. But apparently pissing off those without high karma is fine... ??? :S

For every upvote you get 10 karma, for every down vote you loose 2 karma.. should be 20 karma but oh well..

Also there has to be some other way of getting karma because I almost never get any upvotes and I've gotten to 2.3-2.4K karma.. Also the figure varies which is confusing.

oh and downvoting someone else will cost you I believe 10 karma, which is just ridiculous.

I've learned Karma in lockergnome is pretty useless. yes, you can do some admin-like tasks but that's only because you are "trusted" to improve the site.

what you get in lockergnome is sharing of knowledge, and that's more than any digit of karma. I have 700, and that doesn't mean anything, except the fact that I enjoy the community.

So if you're staying here just for karma., there's no point. But if you're staying cause you wanna learn, or want to talk to some experts in the industry, then you're at the right place. having good karma may also mean you know a lot about the topics here. So having high karma without really being helpful to others? that's not good right?
