We all know the continuing fight of Apple and Microsoft and the strive to have the best computer out there, but is the flame still lit there? In the past years it seems like the main focus is now against the Android system and how Apple is competing with them for the best mobile OS. So, is the fight still with Microsoft or more with Google and their Android OS?

It definitely shifted towards Google and the Android OS. Microsoft isn't relevant in the eyes of Apple executives anymore. In fact, both Apple AND Microsoft shifted their fight towards Google, especially if you look at the patent war going on in the mobile industry, literally everyone who's anyone is getting sued there.

Google poses a HUGE threat to both Apple and Microsoft, and both companies clearly see the threat.

The problem with Google is that nearly every service is free because of the ads. It's very hard to compete with that. It wouldn't surprise me if in the future Google does an Apple and builds an OS out of Linux and sells it for PCs. Yeah I know of Chrome OS but I was thinking about something a little beefier. With more and more services working through the cloud it's a good possibility.

Apple is comming larger in the computer industry and isn't in much direct competition with microsoft. But in the mobile phone industry, Apple is competing with Google.

Apple vs Microsoft doesn't exist anymore. Microsoft is coming to an end and they know it. That is why they are threatening everyone with patent lawsuits and not telling anyone what the patents actually are. They are in their last days and lashing out just trying to survive.

i don't think apple has competition with google or microsoft. i mean obviously they're competitors, but they have very different ideas on how a computer or phone should be. on what a customer will choose one company will be if they like a machine that is more stable but less customizable or more customizable and less stable. google and microsoft are more comparable. but apple does things very different from both. it ultimately comes down to the consumers preference and use for the machine they buy.

You clearly do not understand Linux and BSD. Android, iOS, Chrome OS and OSX all have their roots in the same thing. UNIX. This makes Google and Apple more comparable. And by the way, Linux offers the most stable OS ever created to date. That has been established over and over. I think you need to educate yourself a bit.

yea but they didn't mention linux did they? the comparison was apple to google or apple to android. apples os is much more closed off that google and microsoft in their os. plus your whole little argument there is saying I'm wrong because linux is more stable. which is irrelevant because its not part of the question. it doesn't matter if their built off the same thing or not, it matter way they did with it. they are all very different and managed different too. so go fuck yourself and read the question before you go trolling.
