hey, I have a friend whose PC really needs a fix, and I'm wondering if it's possible to just connect that PC into a network and then control it using the internet,. I need to reformat and reinstall the OS on that PC so I need something that can use the BIOS (that guy is really dumb about computers and would freak out to touch the BIOS) we are miles away from each other and he cannot go here as for the moment. should I just recommend him to go to someone else? I'm wondering, if this thing could work, it could be a good business to fix computers. |

You can use TeamViewer ( http://www.teamviewer.com/ ) to access their computer I use this for some of my clients all they do is download a small file under the big "Start Full Version" button where is says "Join a Remote Control Session" and then tell me the ID password. I have talked tons of people through this and they have no problems. However, TeamViewer and LogMein which was mentioned by @Tux Penguin and what Chris uses is called Go To Assist however, you cannot remote into the BIOS of any computer and also you will not be able to re install the OS from that. The best thing to do here is either find someone else to fix it or to somehow get it yourself. |

while configuring the bios I'm pretty sure you can't be connected to the internet. so you won't be able to connect to that computer until its online. maybe Skype him somehow and tell him what to do step by step. |

i mean, customer support.
