I feel it most certainly is, most especially in the situation where one is severely physically handicapped & bedridden. It helps the handicapped stay connected with family & friends.

Also, The internet is a essential communication tool for businesses & creative people. It allows them to offer their services to a much broader audience than previous means of communication.

Is socializing really a necessity of life?

No but honestly, almost everything apart from food and water is a luxury, and depending on what you're using it for it's level of necessity can increase or decrease.

If you asked me this question 5 years ago I would say no it. However, being where I am today and using it as I do I can honestly say it is. Everything is revolved around the internet, all of our games and music and books are slowly heading all digital.

Try and argue it isn't, but here's a valid point. A job is a necessity as it provides you with money to get food, clothing and shelter. I had to recently apply for a lot of jobs to get one. Out of every single place I inquired to about employment only 2 of the places actually had physical paper applications. Every single other place told me to go on-line and apply. Without the internet you risk the ability to even apply for a job.
