Should people under 18 be able to play rated m games

I have violent tendencies which have been kept under control by my own willpower, but none of those episodes were related to games. In fact, most of them were caused by real life situations and playing games or listening to music helps calm me down.

I agree 100% Playing violent video games helps me wind down. If I play an hour of Call of Duty I don't feel like shooting anyone, I feel like taking a nap!

I still think parents some Parents don't know when its not appropriated to let there kid play Rated M games but I also think some parents who don't want to learn more about the game don't let there responsible mature child play them so its either way. I think its dependent on there maturity.

Its all on maturity level as you've said, I'm 14 (almost 15) and i feel my self and a very small amount of my friends (maybe 5) are mature enough, however other people I know who are my same age, have the maturity of a 5 year old and the IQ of a squirrel... who would never be able to handle those tpes of games, although they still play them and act like the people in the games...

Of course it's up to the kids' maturity. What about rated R movies? Labeling is just bullshit, parents should be able to judge for themselves if they think it's appropriate that their children play some game or not. I don't think games can really influence people in real life, but if this were the case, there are plenty of over-30 out there who should be kept as far away as possbile from those games and from the internet as a whole. Just saying.

if i had kids it would depend on the context of the game, COD yeah fine you'll get similar games with lower ratings so why not let them play a good shooter but i wouldn't let on chat since we all know what get's said on there. Age plays a part as well, in today's world you're desensitised to allot when quite young so 18 games that has a mild plot/context to it for a 14-15 isn't going to be a shock to the system but 18 games like Manhunt in which you stalk people and murder them in 'imaginative ways' is in no way suitable for someone under 18.

One other thing though, i personally find it annoying playing with teens online as they either suck or try and troll over the mic
