Hello there community - I have bumped into an issue which is annoying me.

My icons have gone missing for a number of Applications. System Prefs, Firefox, Preview, Font Book, iWeb.... Loads are just now showing the default icon on OS X. I have tried restarts, permission repairs, disk repairs (which oddly my disk needed)... Nothing has worked.

I did try out Candybar which I know changes icons but I used that to change my dock. Eventually I gave in and uninstalled that as I just changed my dock manually (as you can see). Afterwards I notice icons start disappearing.

Terminal today also disappeared, it worked earlier today. I rebooted and it has suddenly disappeared and I don't know why. I was using terminal for SSH and MySQL... Didn't even touch the icon settings.

I can't do get info and remove the icon as it makes no difference. The icon has simply gone.

Does anyone know how I can repair this, without a lion reinstall? I've tried reinstalling the latest update using the combo pack but that did nothing... I'm incredibly stuck!

HELP!

Thanks,

Daniel Bennett

Seems like everyone else is stumped, too. After so many DB rebuilds of various crap, I gave in and used Lions recovery feature (CMD + R on boot then reinstall lion) to fix it. Many things are kept the same including all my files and accounts so thats good, just the system files that all got restored... thank god!

Now, I really need to sort this backup system out ...
