I have a Compaq laptop with only 2 gb of RAM and a 2.20 GHz Intel celeron. and its terrible! with minecraft at the lowest settings i get 2 frames per second. so i was fixing to buy a new laptop but i have no more than $700 USD. i want the laptop to be for games not only minecraft but good games. hopefully with more than 4gb of RAM. in other words: I want a laptop that can play all the newest games without a hiccup for under $700 USD? do u guys know of any? thanks

You should get a desktop. They are cheaper to get with more performance.

For your tower, this looks like a good deal

It is a dell with an i5 and 4GB of ram. The only problem I can see is that it only has integrated graphics. If you find that performance isn't good enough on that you can upgrade to this graphics card.

Also, newegg has the fantastic Acer 23" monitor on sale this weekend. It is the best budget monitor out there. I say that from personal experience.

All of that (including the graphics card) goes for three pennies less then $700. You better buy that monitor quick while it is on sale.

If you really insist on having a laptop, let me know, and I'll work that out for you. But the desktop will have more performance, which is what is most important to you, right?

It is a good laptop, but it has 4G built in. The description isn't really clear about saying wether you are locked into a contract with that. And there aren't many computers with those specifications in that price range. How much does battery life matter?

Is there much of a differencs from i5 6gb ram to i7 8gb? i mean when it comes to playing games. bacause the primary use of the laptop will be games.

Oh and are lenovo and asus good brands?

As far as I know, most games will run great on both. However, the Lenovo is better because it is:

a) is cheaper

b) has a better graphics card. You seem to be ignoring the graphics. They are especially important if you are playing games, like you want to do. The Lenovo's Intel HD 3000 graphics are the best for a laptop in your budget. Acer put in a lower-end video card so they could give it the i7 and ram at your price range. If you end up needing more ram (even though you probably won't), you can always buy more. It is pretty cheap and easy to install.

This particular price of 449.99 "rides below your budget", yet has great specs and is made by a trusted company. Last that I checked Toshiba is in a tie for first place with ASUS. They are both great companies, however I really am satisfied with Toshiba. I have had problems (I won't lie) , but they were quite minor if I do say so myself. This laptop has intel i5 processor, 15.6 inch display, 500 gb harddrive, built-in cam and mic, and Windows 7 home (people underestimate the power of Windows Home so please do not judge it). I hope this suits you. ;) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Satellite+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i5+Processor+/+15.6%26%2334%3B+Display+-+Matrix+Graphite/3623607.p;jsessionid=7F9B62D638A4DAD7F6F5EC1E7DFF1443.bbolsp-app05-49?id=1218421824058&skuId=3623607&st=toshiba%20laptop&cp=1&lp=2

All the newest games without a hiccup? Good luck on high settings for under $700 unless you build a gaming DESKTOP... Otherwise, I would just go with the most expensive laptop that you can get. Just look for something in the $600 - $700 range. Sorry if this wasn't of much help. ^_^''

it was. I think I'll go for the desktop (I am not the guy who asked, but I have the same thing on my mind)

though, I'm not sure whether I should just go for an XBOX with Kinect?
